Rev. Emmanuel G. Orendain

PastorE

Rev. Emmanuel G. Orendain was born in Manila, Philippines. The eldest of four siblings, he was born to Daniel and Lydia (Garduque) Orendain. He trained and worked as an agricultural economist in the Philippines. He was called to the ministry while being involved in youth work in his local church.

Rev. Orendain quit his job in 1989 and worked as a Youth Promotional Worker at UCCP- Ellinwood Malate Church. He handled the campus ministry and helped set up the Ellinwood Youth Center servicing five universities and four high schools. He also helped start the Acts 29 Drama Group, L.E.N.S. Camera Club, and the Good News Basketball Team. He also revived the Scouting program and other youth-oriented ministries of the church.

In 1994, after finishing his theological studies at Union Theological Seminary in Cavite,Philippines, Rev. Orendain was called to become a pastor at UCCP- Ellinwood Malate Church. He was ordained as Minister of Word and Sacrament and became an Associate Pastor of Ellinwood until 2002 when he joined his family in the United States.

Fondly called “Pastor Eman,” Rev. Orendain is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church. He has also served as the moderator of the National Filipino Presbyterian Council and of the Asian Presbyterian Council of the Synod of Southern California and Hawaii. Currently he serves as moderator of the Presbytery of the Pacific.

Pastor Eman is married to Maribel Ponce. They are gifted with three lovely girls: Tami, Mae, and Dani. He enjoys collecting stamps, photography, chess and competition darts. Pastor Eman also plays basketball, tennis and dabbles in some golf, but says he really needs to learn how to swim.

Rev. Genesis V. Auste

Rev. Genesis Auste graduated with a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. He also has a Bachelor of Ministry (TEE) degree from Union Theological Seminary (Philippines) and Bachelor of Arts in Management Economics with a Minor in Japanese Studies from Ateneo de Manila University.

He has been married more than 20 years to Joy. They first met in communicant’s class during their teens. They have two children.

Prior to seminary, Genesis worked in the global consumer goods and pharmaceuticals industry. His corporate and seminary stints have allowed his family to call places like the Philippines, Japan, Singapore, China and USA home. His hobbies are reading and running long distances (R&R).

Pastors Eman and Genesis have a long history of working together. They first crossed paths in UCCP-Ellinwood Malate Church in Manila, Philippines. Ellinwood was founded by American Presbyterian missionaries in 1907. Pastor Eman was the Associate Pastor for Christian Education and Genesis’ Youth Pastor. Genesis was the coordinator of the Youth Council. Together they oversaw the youth program of one of the biggest and oldest Protestant church in the Philippines.

Pastors Eman and Genesis are both excited that God has called them to work together again in serving Him and His Kingdom.
Karine Cheng Bendicion

Karine Cheng Bendicion graduated with honors from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, with a B.A. in Church Music, pipe organ major.  While a piano performance major at the University of the Philippines Conservatory of Music, she had felt a growing desire to attend MBI, and transferred during her second year.  She also has a B.S. Business Administration degree from the same university.

From elementary to high school, Karine loved singing in choir. While in college, she enjoyed teaching the Junior Choir of Grace Christian Church, and serving as accompanist for church services, summer conferences, and for the high school choirs of her alma mater Grace Christian High School.  For many years she was accompanist for The Fifth Season – an evangelical outreach singing group based in Jubilee Evangelical Church of Quezon City, Philippines – ministering in Manila, in some provinces, and in Singapore and Thailand. She was also pianist for the civic group Yellow River Ensemble’s concerts at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

While at MBI, her Practical Christian Ministry assignment was at Chinese Christian Fellowship Church in Wilmette, Illinois, where she taught the Echoettes children’s choir, and was accompanist for His Command Performance, a high school & collegiate outreach choir that ministered in places like Salvation Army, nursing homes, and prison, traveling as far as California and Canada. She also has fond memories of singing and touring with MBI’s Women Concert Chorus.

After graduation from MBI, Karine went on a mission trip to China with Gospel Missions, bringing Bible study materials to the underground church. Six days before she was going to start her first job in Chicago, God detoured her plans through a seemingly chance meeting that stemmed from that mission trip, and eventually led her to Calvary Presbyterian Church in 1994.

She and her husband Antonio are blessed with two fine sons, Tyler and Micah. Soli Deo gloria!

Amy Grace Bautista-Lovell

Amy Grace Bautista-Lovell is the product of prayers of Christian parents, family and Christian Education at Calvary Presbyterian Church. In 1999, she declared Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Savior at a Harvest Crusade evangelism event and had a serious desire to learn more about God and to help people.

After serving in children’s ministry at CPC, Amy Grace felt a calling towards full-time ministry halfway through her Elementary Education undergraduate degree at California State University, Long Beach. After prayer and discernment, she transferred to Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary in Baguio, Philippines to complete a Christian Education degree. For two years, she soaked in His Word, the culture of the people, and God’s Church both in class and in application, especially through a local church in Baguio and internships in Imus, Cavite.

She was graciously offered a position of Christian Education Associate at CPC after coming back home in 2011 and has joyfully served alongside the staff, elders and members since. Amy Grace also works as Executive Assistant/Projects Coordinator at Rose Publishing, a Christian publishing company in Carson, CA.  A newlywed, she is happily enjoying new adventures with her husband, Dustin Lovell.
