Leader: Jesus Christ is risen today!

Leader: The tomb could not hold him.
People: The grave is empty. Christ is risen!
Leader: Humanity’s sin could not condemn him.
People: He shattered sin’s power over us. Christ is risen!
Leader: Death could not contain him.
People: He conquered death for all eternity. Christ is risen!

Prayer of Confession (together)

Living God, we confess that we look for the living among the dead. We are doubtful and slow to believe the promise of the prophets. We are frightened and full of unbelief, even when you stand among us. Forgive us, for our unbelief, God of grace.

Remind us of your power through the works of Jesus Christ while here on earth, and His promises to the church as He was ascended to heaven. Open our hearts to receive your word, and feed us with the bread of life, the life that death cannot even destroy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
