Call (Pastor)
The psalmist says., "I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity; I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,' and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Therefore let all who are faithful offer prayer to you." With repentant hearts, let us faithfully offer our transgressions up to God. (based on Psalm 32)
Confession (People)
Almighty and merciful God, it is a gift that we can come before you to confess our sins. You have already given us so much, and yet we continue to want more. And we want everything to come without struggle. We get so consumed with our own desires that our eyes are blind to people in real need. Forgive us whenwe fail to appreciate what we have. Forgive us whenwe don't recognize you as the giver ofall good gifts. Cleanse us ofenvy, greed would and laziness. Help us see the world with your eyes so we will respond as you with generous hearts. In Jesus' name, Amen.
(Moment private confession until the bell rings)
Assurance of Pardon
That same psalm begins with these words, "Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered." Friends, be filled with great happiness! Because in Jesus Christ, your sins have been forgiven. Thanks be to God. Amen.
