Call to Worship

Elder Ed Manuel

Leader: But because of His great love for us, God, made us alive with Christ.

People: And it is by grace we have been saved through faith.

Leader: We come to follow Jesus, who leads us to New Life;

People:        This is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Leader:          For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus.

ALL:               To do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Come, let us worship God, Amen!

Opening Hymn

“Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”

Prayer of Confession (together)

We come, dear Lord, as confessing people - confessing our shortcomings, confessing our willfulness, our false pride, our selfishness and all other sins that infect us.  Sometimes our mouths spew anger or unloving language. Sometimes we take advantage of the slow of mind or those less educated or of lower social standing.

Sometimes Lord, we are quick to judge and find fault rather than show patience. Forgive us Lord for sometimes we think of ourselves as people who are not capable of doing what you intended for us to do. We shrink in fear and hide from the challenges brought forth to us. Make us to know that you will indeed give us the gifts and the talents to do more for you and for your Kingdom.

O Lord, we confess we have doubted your power.  Grant us your forgiveness, and reconcile us to you and to each other. We pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
