Call to Worship
Elder Cherrie Manuel
Leader: Welcoming God, we gather here today to worship and praise you.
People: We gather in this sacred place where, over many generations, our forebears have gathered to worship God.
Leader: Responsive God, you hear our prayers, our sighs, our doubts and all our fears.
People: We give you our thanks O God, for your love and care of us all.
Leader: We gather to again fulfill our commitments to our God in the presence of your people.
ALL: We offer our sacrifice, our homage, our gifts of praise and thankfulness to our God. Come let us worship God, Amen.
Opening Hymn #482
“Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty”
Invocation *
Prayer of Confession
Lord God, we confess without reservation that our dialogue with you is not really a dialogue. Too often, we ask without listening, complain without offering thanksgiving. We pray, and cannot understand why we get no response. Awaken us to wonder: If you called, would we answer? Or would you get a busy signal? Would you leave a message, and get no answer in return?
We confess our impatience and our unwillingness to sit in the holy stillness of your presence. Forgive us, loving God. Thank you for letting us try again. This is our prayer in the mighty name of Jesus our Christ, Amen.
(A time of silence for personal reflection, to be ended with the ringing of the bell.)

Affirmation of Faith
(The Apostle’s Creed)
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father
almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen. *meaning universal church

The CPC Family comes together in heartfelt sympathy with the family of
Kuya Eleazar “Eleng” Gonzales
On August 4, 2026, the Lord called Kuya Eleng home while he was
surrounded by loved ones. We thank God for his 87 years of strength, love, and youthful spirit. For over 60 years he shared his gift of music, singing in the choir at UCCP Anabu and later here at CPC Wilmington. His joy and servant heart blessed many. May Christ’s comfort and peace wrap all who mourn in hope and gently surround his loved ones in this season of grief.
