Order of Worship
Call to Worship
Leader: We lift up our eyes to the hills, and we lift up our hearts to the Lord.
People: Let us put away the former things, and embrace the gift of faith that is ours to claim.
Leader: From where does our help come?
All: Not from our own power, or strength, or might, but from the maker of heaven and earth. Let us worship God! Amen.

Opening Hymn #203
“God of Mercy, God of Grace”
Invocation
Prayer of Confession (together)
Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know the old heartaches that still pain me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up. You know the worries that rob me of rest, the fears that drive me. You know my thoughts from afar. You know what I attempt to conceal from everyone else. You know why I do what I do, when I don’t even know myself.
Forgive me and help me, gracious God. Help me lay aside my faithless fears. Forgive my inability to trust you in all things. Help me overcome the hurts of the past, and help me give up using them as excuses for my present situation. I am the work of your hand; fulfill your purpose for me. Do not forsake me when I turn to you, for the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen.
(A time for reflection, to be ended with the ringing of the bell.)

Affirmation of Faith (together)
Pastor: What do you believe when you confess your faith in “God the Father Almighty”?
All: That God is a God of love, and that God’s love is powerful beyond measure.
Pastor: What do you affirm when you confess your faith in “Jesus Christ as our Lord”?
All: That having been raised from the dead He reigns with compassion and justice over all things in heaven and on earth, especially over those who confess Him by faith; and that by loving and serving Him above all else, we give glory and honor to God.
Pastor: What do you believe when you confess your faith in the Holy Spirit?
All: That apart from the Holy Spirit, our Lord can neither be oved, nor known, nor served. The Holy Spirit is the personal bond by which Jesus Christ unites us to Himself, the teacher who opens our hearts to Christ, and the comforter who leads us to empowering us to live in Christ’s service. Amen.
