Prelude / Silent Meditation

Karine Bendicion

(The Lord is in His holy temple, let all the earth be silent before Him.)

Elder Daisy Pakingan

Call to Worship

Leader: O Lord, you search us and know us;
People: You discern our thoughts from far away.
Leader: You search out our paths and are acquainted with all our ways;
People: Even before we speak, you know our words.
Leader: We praise you, for we are wonderfully made;
People: Wonderful are your works; we know that very well.
Leader: We try to count your thoughts, but they are more than the sand;
ALL: We come to the end, and we are still with you. Amen and Amen.

Opening Hymn #476

“O Worship the King, All Glorious Above”

* Invocation

Prayer of Confession

Lord God, you have commanded us to be holy, yet holiness seemingly eludes us. You have enjoined us to be patient, but we continue to be anxious about so many little things. Give us peace in our hearts. You have commanded us to love, yet we are skeptical of people and guard our hearts with great caution.

Lord, we confess at times feel we are lost, without hope. Your grace, O Lord, is greater than our failings; your love covers the greatest sin. Only by your work on the cross, by surrendering ourselves to you will we be able to love fully, wait patiently, to be holy. We confess our deep need for you, our Savior. Forgive our sins, and as you promised, though our sins be as scarlet, it will be white as snow. Thank you, Lord and in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

(A time of silence for personal reflection, to be ended with the ringing of the bell.)

* Affirmation of Faith

Pastor: What is your only comfort in life and in death?

All. That I am not my own, but belong, body and soul, in life and in death to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to Him, Christ, by His Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life; makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for Him. This we believe and so we live. Amen
