Call to Worship
One: Now is the moment of grace.
All: This is the hour of blessing.
One: Today is the day of salvation.
All: Here is the path to new life.
One: Already joy is abounding,
All: And love is flowing.
One: For this is the day that the Lord has made.
All: Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Come let worship God, Amen!
Opening Hymn #288
“I Sing the Mighty Power of God”
* Invocation
Prayer of Confession
Loving God, we suffer. We suffer from this nature of sin that corrupts even our best attempts to please you. We suffer from brokenness that plagues us with self-centeredness and fear. We inflict suffering on others by our thoughtless and judgmental attitudes. We suffer from discontentment, from comparisons to others, from the worship of false gods.
We run after every new and empty promise - promises of security, ease, love or intimacy - but it is all in vain, for only in you will we find true rest and peace. Forgive us, Lord. Forgive our idolatry, our refusal to give up lordship of our lives, our forgetfulness of your grace and faithfulness. Continue to call us back, and we thank you for never giving up on us. In Jesus’ name, Amen
(A time of silence for personal reflection, to be ended with the ringing of the bell.)

* Affirmation of Faith
We believe in a bold God, Creator of splendor, spinning stars into night skies, warming the planet with life-giving sunshine, filling the earth with all creatures great and small.
We believe in a big God, Creator of hundreds of billions of galaxies, who is big enough to receive our praise and loving enough to answer our prayers. He is mighty to save, mighty to bring us across the waters of our deepest fears.
We believe in the risen Christ, who meets us in the brokenness of life, Comes alongside us on all our wanderings and forever seeks to welcome us home with open arms.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, guide and companion, who fills the church with windy hope and fiery compassion.
We believe in the Church, where we can taste and see God’s goodness, and live as a renewed people for the world. This we believe and so we live, Amen.
