Call to Worship

Leader: If you are tired, come and worship!
People: If you are hungry, come and worship!
Leader: If you are filled with joy, come and worship!
People: If your spirit feels renewed, come and worship!
Leader: Our God desires our worship, whether we have much or little to give.
People: There is healing when we come before our God.
ALL: All who are gathered here, come and worship! Amen.

Opening Hymn #455

“All Creatures of Our God and King”

Invocation

Prayer of Confession

Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Show forth your compassion to us and liberate us from our sins.

Set us free, O Lord, from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us, through your Holy Spirit, grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image. This is our prayer through Jesus Christ, Savior and Ruler of the world. Amen.

(A time of silence for personal reflection, to be ended with the ringing of the bell.)

Affirmation of Faith

Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn of all creation.
For in Him all things in heaven and on earth were created:
things visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers;
all things have been created through Him and for Him.
He Himself is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
And He is the head of the body, the church;
He is the beginning, the firstborn from among the dead,
so that He might come to have first place in everything.
For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,
and through Him God was pleased to reconcile to Himself all things,
whether on earth or in heaven,
by making peace through the blood of His cross.
This we believe and so we live, Amen.

(Affirmation of Faith based on Colossians 1: 15-20)
